I had all these grand plans this week of making prototypes for new bags and the daily routine of production got the better of me. I am trying to pace myself, I had a back log of zipper totes because I was waiting for my zippers (they were on vacation for two weeks) it kind of messed up my timeline, but I feel I am caught up now and to top it off the zippers I ordered for the small day bags and pouches were wrong. so next week the new batch will come and you will see those bags pop back in the shop. my body is showing signs of repetitive stress injury and I am thinking of ways to fix it by maybe going back to doing yoga and getting massages more often. I always say to j how I neglect myself and everything around me comes first and I have to think about sustaining this business and since I'm a key component I've got to take it easy.

on my plate is coming up with the next ceramic collection, I am going to take a break from the decal work and bring back painted wares, I made this tumbler 15 years ago and it's a daily reminder of how simple design can be timeless. I wanted the stripes to have an effect that it was painted with watercolour. I was also going through a blue and white phase. I think it's sweet how piper spends time at her sewing machine, she's only three and she works with such concentration and I also like how her and lliam see their world of creating as just a part of life.

I hope your weekend will be restful and filled with loafing. I miss those loafing days, enjoy them for me.

  2. If you ever plan to make very similar tumblers or cups, I'm all in ! To say that I LOVE the effect you achieve is an understatement. Please keep us posted about them, OK ?? :)
Signs of repetitive stress injury ? Oh dear, you MUST indeed take care of yourself NOW (or very soon) or I fear you'll pay a higher price later & for a long time, which I absolutely hope you won't !!!
Sending you warm hugs & positive thoughts oxox

  3. First, I just adore your work and style. And - Oh my - I truly hope and pray you stressed arm/hand doesn't get too bad. Not sure if you're seeing tendonitis or carpel tunnel but speaking from experience you really need to pace before it goes too far. Ice, rest, yoga, pacing, not working for hours at a time.

I'm a year into tendonitis from making leather handbags and after realizing that it will never completely heal, I've had to make some tough choices. All my best to you. Pace. Pace. Pace. :)

  5. Arounna,I love your ceramic work and will be excited to see your new offerings! Please, please take care of yourself and give yourself time each day, even if it is just 10-15 minutes of stillness. I know from experience how important it is and how much better you will feel if you take some time just for you each and every day. I'm glad Lliam and Piper see creating as part of their lives, they are so talented...I've enjoyed carrying my new tote bag and my daughter loves her bird pouch. The tags and notes will go to some special friends that will appreciate them. xoxo

  6. Love the tumblr and how wonderful about your kids being so creative. That looks like an awesome sewing machine!

It is a challenge for sure, and then some, to carve out time for oneself with so much going on. Maybe the kids could join you doing a yoga video? Here is one from a trustworthy site: http://www.collagevideo.com/workout-video/yoga-kids-abcs-7263 . I've gotten several good videos from them. Take good care! Sending healing mommy wishes your way.
