leather flap pouch2 leather flap pouch tea break
I've been soo busy lately that I am starting to forget to do things
so in order to not forget I have been including deadlines in my email calendar and email myself closer to the deadline. it's beginning to work, but when I looked at the month of june which starts today, I started to hyperventilate a little because of the workload. I love june because it's my birthday month, yesterday while having a conversation with j I realized this birthday was going to be the last of my thirties and I was becoming middle aged, what, how did that happen?
I spent the week building up stock for the online stores plus our brick and mortar and I am hoping to make the new zipper totes on the weekend, so glad you like them too.

I always have a tea break midday - I feel like I need it - I sometimes don't eat lunch, because I have a late breakfast, so lunch is sometimes a cookie and tea (I know not very healthy) when ever I visit france I just love the palmier cookies, and my mom always bring mini versions on her visit and I was down to the last box and am excited for her visit in a few weeks so she can bring more french sweets.

I have so much leather remnants that can't be used for straps, too short
so I decided to make some wallets with hand stitching on the edge using waxed thread and a stud closure. you wonder how I get things done, last weekend I was over at my in-laws for dinner and while we were all chatting outside I was cutting holes in the leather. my friends and family are so use to me sitting around always working on something that it doesn't phase them and they kinda don't even notice. I want you to have this one, so let me know if you're a tea drinker too and what kind of sweet treat do you like? I will announce a winner on monday.
have a wonderful weekend friends! xxa

  2. Love this little wallet! So good that you can put scraps to such beautiful use :)
I can't survive with out my cups of tea during my day.. it's what keeps me going! I rarely have a treat with my tea but when I do it has to be a few little Pfeffernüsse, traditional German gingerbread cookies... I LOVE them :)

  3. my favourite tea is bancha tea and my sweet treat is a gluten free, vegan brownie ...

  4. I love tea, especially green tea :) My favorite simple treat right now is dark chocolate with almonds and sea salt. I love the wallet, great design! Stud closures are my favorite.

  7. Hope you are doing well with all these deadlines...so good for you to take a tea break sometimes. I love a rooibos and sweets, oh well, I love everything from chocolate in no matter what colour, coconut cookies, applepies etc. Fortunayely I don't gain weight that quickly ;-)

  8. I have my cuppa every day after lunch; my parents have had a pot of tea after dinner every evening for 54 years, so the ritual is probably genetic. :) Shortbread and almond cookies are mmmmm with tea! You and your family have a lovely weekend, too.

  9. Mmm, I love tea! My long-standing favourite is a blend called 'Angelwater' from a tea company on the island. It has mint, lavender, rose petals and other good stuff.. As for sweets, I would be very happy with a box full of pistachio macarons :) The leather wallet is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

  10. I usually drink coffee, but in the afternoon it is tea with a cookie. Usually it is a ginger biscotti, but I have been craving oatmeal raisin lately and have resisted mixing up a batch. My Great Gram came here from England and we had tea every afternoon. She would put a lemon drop in our cups and we would listen to it crack and pop. Then the treat was usually chocolate covered orange sticks. Memories!

  11. Currently my favorite teas are the Pu Erh line by Numi. Delicious! They make a basil one that is amazing. I usually try not to eat treats with my tea- but not because I don't like them!

  12. I'm not much of a tea drinker, especially because I hate the taste of warm fruit. There aren't many teas left to drink. Green tea with yasmine is the one I drink from time to time. I'm a coffee drinker instead. I always make a cup when I'm start my sewing work. I don't have a favourite type of treat. Actually, a good fruitsalad always does the trick. Unless it's combined with coffee, haha!

  16. I'm in love with this piece, love your stuff in general, but this one even more.
    And love orange pekoe tea.
    Have a quiet weekend!

  17. I admire your perseverance so much! But sometimes I think when reading your blog that you should take some more rest (certainly if you are reaching middle age ;-), I know about it).
O yes, I am a tea drinker! A big bowl of earl grey every morning and during the day usually herb teas. When visiting France you should try to find an organic shop of the Biocoop chain (its a cooperation), they sell beautiful teas from the brand Les Jardins de Gaia. With my tea I prefere to eat a Stroopwafel, a specialty from my home country The Netherlands: a thin waffle filled with caramel, YUM!!

  18. It is beautiful.I love the simplicity.
My favorite is green tea. Jasmine or lemon. And rooibos, too. Nice and sweet. And to go with it? Anything really and if it has a bit of chocolate in it, that's a little bit of heaven ;)
Thank you and have a great day.

  19. Summertime tea comes straight from the garden: mint, lemon balm, sage, thyme. Some dark chocolate tends to gatecrash the party. Not that i mind.

  20. no tea for me but if i did it would be chai and a fresh chewy ginger cookie

  21. I'm not a tea drinker at all, but a coffee one, and right now it is so hot that I don't even want to drink one !
What kind of sweet treat ? I love stroopwafels. I can't resist whenever I can get one.
    PS : age is just a number ... :)

  25. Mid-day it's coffee for me - hopefully with a biscotti dunked in chocolate.

  26. I love tea, the darker the better. In fact I like it the Turkish style in a little glass not in a cup. And along I prefer an egg white maringue!

  27. Glad to hear you take a midday tea break. In the cooler seasons I love chai, but now that it is warmer I am enjoying mint tea, either hot or cold, using my own fresh mint leaves. Tea with any homebaked goodie I might have around is always delicious. I love how you are always making use of your scraps and creating more beauty, you are a constant inspiration! Happy weekend. ox Melanie

  29. I'm not much of a tea drinker, coffee is more my thing, but sometimes a cup of chamomile lavender tea is exactly what I need. And I love pretty much any and all sweets, but chocolate covered almonds are currently my treat of choice.

  30. Afternoon tea can make any crazy day feel less so. I love peppermint tea with a brownie (but I try to stay away from those...).

    ReplyDelete
  31. green tea lately... and a lemon cookie drizzled with chocolate is always welcome! beautiful wallet, simply lovely.

  32. Cream Earl Grey with gingersnaps can't be beat in my books.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love tea, too. I use it as a treat—something to look forward to in the long afternoon before the end of the work day. My favorite is Stash's lemon ginger. I love how its flavor changes as you work your way through a cup, starting off sweet and lemony and ending with a peppery, ginger kick.

  34. i drink tea in winter, but not so much in the summer. i love all sweet treats, to be honest, but in particular a donut from our local shop that makes them every morning.... carol lee!

  35. I LOVE to dip croissant or almond biscuits in my favourite English breakfast tea :-)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love, and need, my tea too (green, rooibos, black, herbal...). My favourite sweet treats have always been french too -- especially the pains au raisins. Oh, and the tartes au abrigots. Or just a buttery croissant... (Unfortunately, being gluten-free now, I can only enjoy them in my memory these days!

    Love your work.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love hot herbal tea - camomile or something green - with a ginger snap. Right now I'm drinking lots of iced peppermint tea - love it in warm weather! Had it with pb&j yesterday ~

    ReplyDelete
  38. I love a good strong english breakfast tea or earl grey...but right now we are enjoying a new raspberry tea around here...with cranberry orange scones (daughter's recipe).
I just read through the link to covet garden and really enjoyed your photos...what an amazing place you have. Enjoyed the kindred in blue and white link also.

  39. It great to see how similar we can be to other people! I'm always working on a crochet project or drawing out sketches (on the subway, looking out the window, even on long drives when I'm not the driver of course!)... I'm also always drinking tea! it could be a tazo chai, peppermint, green... together with a biscotti is a great mid afternoon snack for me!
I would love to have this leather wallet!... I have a weakness for hand stitching on the edge of things (is there a name for that?)!

  41. I love tea and almost all kinds especially the kusmi teas. I love sweats too. Dark chocolat, palmiers, madeleine...anything french or homemade. It is oh so hard to separate work from home when you a creating that much. I wonder how you manage to find time on your own, especially with 2 kids.

  42. I've just recently taken a liking to drinking black tea. My favorite sweet treat is an peanut butter cookie :-)

  43. I'm a tea drinker, no doubt... yesterday I had a green one called 'Roses Dreams' which tasted so good! And, if you pair this with a cupcake... simply delicious!! :)

  44. my last 30's birthday hit me a bit hard too, but i'm emotional when it comes to birthdays. i'm a huge tea drinker. hot, strong, english breakfast in morning, iced lemon myrtle in afternoon. as for sweets, i haven't been eating them...but if i had to cheat, it would be something with shortbread and jam.

  45. every night i've been boiling a big pot of water and preparing ice tea for the next day. I've somehow amassed nearly 100 varieties through gifts and the like, and they are overrunning my cupboard! Hopefully I'll have that whittled down by the time fall rolls around.

the wallet is beautiful. way to to stretch your materials to the limit, Arounna!

  46. Hi Arounna,
I'm drinking tea right now! Always have at least 3 cups a day, after each meal - just black. Loose-leaf darjeeling is my favourite, but it's too expensive for every day, so single-origin Ceylon from Twinings works in a pinch :) As for a treat, maybe just an arrowroot cookie, or a few of the tiny lemon-buttermilk ones from this recipe: orangette.blogspot.com/2008/04/because-of-cookies.html. I love all kinds of sweets, actually, but to go with tea, it has to be simple, to let the tea shine :). Thanks and have a wonderful weekend too! Katia

  47. Your spirit and work are always so inspiring. Even leftovers and ends are magically transformed. Well, hardly a night goes by that I don't have Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime - even in summer - and if I can find a madeleine to go with it, perfect! Thank you for your posts and inspiration!

  48. Any tea pleases me... Mint fresh from the garden is nice with a square of dark chocolate. Rose hip lends itself to a bite of nut bread. Love the wallet!

  49. Just keep bumping the starting age of 'middle aged' up a bit each year. :^)

Yes, I love tea and overwork my electric kettle 3 seasons of the year to brew it! Shortbread is a nice sweet with tea and can stand up to the occasional dipping....

    ReplyDelete
  50. my tea drinking comes first thing in the morning or in the wee hours of the night...with a white frosted doughnut if i am lucky!

    ReplyDelete
  51. im an earl grey tea drinker...not the 1st choice of many, but its def my fave! and having TIM TAMS to dip in the mug til the chocolate melts is such a delectable sweet treat!
TimTams arent the easiest to find but sometimes I see them at target in the US and im like "YES! SCORE" and buy them up. (which actually brings up my 2nd favourite sweet treat with tea....a SKOR bar! :))
    thanks!

  52. I love straight up black tea, accompanied by toast with honey.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm a big tea drinker (though do love a proper latte from a cafe whenever I'm out and about!), and am very particular it has to be Twinnings Earl Grey which I take with milk - shock horror to all the tea purists!!!
Usually for morning tea I just have a couple of cubes of dark chocolate, as any other sweet treats disappear too fast in our house & I'm just as guilt as the kids! But my favourite biccie at the moment is Griffins Krispie coated in chocolate. A Krispie is a plain biscuit with coconut to give it the krispie-factor. Eating them reminds me of childhood picnics in the Triumph 2000. It's been brought into the 21stC with a coating of chocolate on it's base - yum!

  54. Hi Arounna,
I enjoy tea at different times of day. For breakfast I love a pot of sencha green tea, with rye toast slathered with butter and homemade preserves (quince jelly or blackberry jam). For an afternoon pick-me-up I might have strong Earl Grey with a delicious butter cookie (one of my faves is Le Petit Beurre by Lu).

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh my, that is such a beautiful wallet! You are so sweet to share it :) My new favorite is bubble tea and once in a while I adore pairing it with a thick slice of carrot cake with cream cheese frosting!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Wonderful tea! black tea in the morning with cardamom pods sweetened with a little maple syrup. And tho i hardly ever eat them scones with clotted cream and preserves would be my request for a last meal.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm coffee dependent, digestive addicted. Do you have mcvities digestives there? I hope you do. I have a stack when my kids are napping. Also replacing lunch!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm a serious tea drinker - kukicha (Japanese twig tea some days), jasmine tea (most afternoons), and recently a blue tea ! It's delicate, smoky, and very fragrant; it lies somewhere between a green and black tea. To add to this, it also goes by the name of tie kwan or Iron Goddess of Mercy named after the Buddhist saint Guan Yin, who was known for her strong compassion! I always like a story behind my tea!!!
