my professor Jane Buyers from grad school is retiring this year - she is an amazing sculptor, printmaker and drawer - all the things I want to be strong at - there will be a party for her next week - I am teaching, but hopefully I will still make it. during my time at UofW she was very influential and will be sorely missed.

Lovely to go through your blog- Her work seems fascinating- Will be back- :-)
ReplyDeleteI just finished showing my daughter how to use some tools using a technique I learned about from one of my best art school teachers. He passed away quite young, not long after I left art school, but I think of him often and the many things he taught me. I've passed them on to my students and now my daughter too.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it's the same with you and your professor.
incredible
ReplyDeleteespecially
that
collection drawing
( ps I didn't know my over the seas friend joanie went to art school but now that i do it makes so much sense)
xo
I thought of you Margie seeing the collection drawing. I'm not sure what all the tools are but I'm assuming many are for sculpting but many look like they could be medical tools.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see all of these amazing pieces in real life - they look so tactile too.
Yes, Margie University and art school in San Francisco.
I too like the drawing
ReplyDeletethe idea of collecting is such a nice theme
How fortunate you were to have studied with such talent! I had a wonderful professor that I recently tried to contact after twenty years and learned he had passed away. I so wish I could have told him how much he meant to me. I hope you make it to the show!
