I have been familiar with vija celmins work since art school - I am drawn to labor-intensive work - since in my own art work there is lots of time and meticulous detail involved. If you look closely - her work may look like photographs, but they are either a pencil drawing or a painting. I think one of the best series is PBS Art 21 - what a great way to take a peak inside many amazing artist's studio. You should rent it if you have a chance.

    I also love Vija Celmins work and can't believe that they are either drawn or painted. Very atmospheric too.
