21.1.13

hi everyone
thanks for all the comments on the giveaway - oh my there's a lot of chocolates I've never heard of that I need to try - I really enjoyed the comments that had nostalgic memories of chocolate.
the random winner chosen is Morgan Wedderspoon - congratulations - you have till 6pm today to claim the giveaway or another person will be chosen.

On the weekend I manage to finish the wall hanging and today it's off to be installed.  I found doing something other than production quite satisfying and feel that I have to make a concious effort to do so.

I wanted to leave you with the statement about this piece:
This wall hanging is made of natural dyed fabric -linen and cotton - that forms a landscape of irregular shapes, surfaces and convolutions. But unlike a conventionally mapped surface, this landscape suggests that which is contrary to the grid: formed not from subdividing a space but from the inside out, a bricolage expanding outwards, growing into and finding their shape (coloured component).  While necessarily contained within a frame, the landscape inside also suggests a greater field- a continuation beyond its limits, suggesting an unknowable that can only be imagined from its fragmented state.

I also wanted to let you know that the triangle tote bag is now in the shop along with the zipper option.

have a great start to your week
xxa

UPDATE >>the bag was not claimed - the new winner is ESchoo - please email me by tomorrow morning or another winner will be chosen<<

  1. It's beautiful, Arounna. It reminds me a lot of the gorgeous aerial photos of Earth that Chris Hadfield has been posting from space.

  5. Lucky Morgan!

Love the wall hanging. The irregular shapes remind me so much of patchwork of fields and cornish hedges around where I live.

  9. Lovely work, Arounna. It reminds me of aerial views and maps of our rural landscape here in the Cotswolds, England. But ours are very, very green. Yours is so beautifully bleached and restrained in colour. Wonderful.
