  7. I love the bag. I just got one delivered today, which was very VERY exciting.

Best Chocolate ever: maybe not the best, but most memorable, was chilli chocolate, it wasn't spicy because the milk of the chocolate took that away, and instead you tasted the sweetness of the chilli.

  23. What a generous giveaway Arounna! the best chocolate I have had is made here in Vancouver by a local chocolatier, Rachel of Cocoa Nymph. When you visit Vancouver you must try some of her concoctions. The best there I have tried is called Illa, dark chocolate ganache flavoured with sea salt - yum. We run a series of events here called Sparkfly and she came and spoke at our last one in November. The reason why her chocolates stand out is because she also shared her work ethic saying that her aim is not so much having the business and creating the chocolates but rather to create a happy and relaxed environment for her employees so that they will go home still with energy to make creations of their own. Now that is magic, don't you think? (sorry for the long comment!) and thank you for the opportunity! Tamar

  40. My favourite pattern of yours! The best chocolate I've ever had was in the form of a hot chocolate. In Ottawa there are a chain of local coffee houses called Bridgehead. It's made with a hint of chili and whoever made my hot chocolates at the Bank St & Gladstone location always made them exceptionally well. Never tasted anything like it since!

    ReplyDelete
  41. There is this little shop in my home town in France that makes the best praline chocolates I ever had. Now I live in Canada (Montreal) but each year, when my mom visits, she sneaks in a huge box of these delicacies into her luggage (along with a good wine bottle) and prays the border patrol won't ask her to check her bag. If this chocolate was good at the time I lived in my home town, it became something so rare and so meaningful - like during the prohibition, ah!! - that it tastes even better now. Once, I showed the design on your tote bag to my mom (on the internet) and we both fell in love with it! If I win this giveaway, I'll make sure to send her the tote... so maybe she can hide a box of chocolate in it the next time she comes to visit! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love this pattern so much! The best chocolate I've had recently was the Perugina chocolate cappuccino flavor from Italy. It has coffee bean crunches inside and is an awesome treat! Love from Vancouver!

and i love reading about everyone's favourite chocolates! my best chocolate experience was on a farm in ecuador - cutting open cacao plants (and eating that amazing squishy jelly-like goo that covers the cacao beans!) then roasting it up to make beautiful runny chocolate and eating it with fresh bananas. incredible.
keep up your lovely work arounna!

  66. Is it said that if you really love chocolate, it has to be a bitter one. I disagree, of course, because I'm mad for chocolate, specially for milk chocolate. Belgium chocolate is the best!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Love how you compare your bag to chocolate. They are both irresistible. I loveeeee a bit of choc here n there. But one that brings me to childhood is a classic ferero Roche. My dad would fly away on a business trip and buy a box. We wound all sit down and savour each bite. It was so special that I would eat them by layers -the nutty first then the thin wafer to the thick rich choc and lastly the hazelnut.

As for the chocolate, the best I ever had was by Adoré Chocolat, a small artisan manufacturer in Belgrade, Serbia, where I live. They are handmade, all natural and simply to die for. I love choosing different praline flavours and then sitting down and slowly savouring them one by one.

  84. Such a lovely bag!

I'm a true explorer in the field of sweet. When I see a new choco goodie, I try it right away.

I do read a lot labels too. So very often I'm not satisfied with all the fillers mentioned as ingredients. Recently I discovered Nocciolata Rigoni di Asiago - both heavenly delicious and healthy. It reminds me of the homemade chocolate my mother made when I was a kid. Which reminds me - the best chocolate I ever had was the chocolate homemade by my mama. ^.^

  121. hmmmmm when i think about what my favorite chocolate is i think of my grandfather always bringing a chocolate log cake to our house for xmas when i was a kid. i don't think it was the best tasting but i loved seeing a cake rolled up like a log.

  122. I think right now it's Lake Champlain hot chocolate...but that's always subject to change :)- your bags are just beautiful!!

  123. This is my favourite pattern - I love this bag and get very excited when I see someone wearing it out and about. As for the question at hand, I'm going to go local and say anything at SOMA, particularly their dark based truffles and a shot of the biscerin. WOW.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Excellent bag! The last chocolate I had was from Burdick's in Cambridge, Ma., along with their hot chocolate.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Vosges chocolate is the best I think, except that there are those single source bars showing up, and some of them are amazing. I really think this requires more study. I love your blog, your work and that bag!

    ReplyDelete
  126. I love this bag! My favourite chocolate is one my husband bought me for Valentine's Day from a local bakery when we first started dating. It came in a heart shaped box made of chocolate with white chocolate curls inside and sitting on top were the most amazing cinnamon chocolate truffles. Every year he goes back to buy me more for our anniversary but sadly they've never tasted as good.

  127. Beautiful tote!

I am a fan of chocolate covered orange peels from Stubbe Chocolates in Toronto.

  128. Friends who live in a little town in France that borders Switzerland bring lovely chocolate when they come every year. It's delicious and doesn't stick around very long. But the truth be told, in a pinch a bar of Lindt does the trick.

  129. Chocolate sweets called "polar bear in north " :) x

  130. I would say that the best chocolate is Côte d'or, the milk chocolate in the retro yellow/green package.. A good friend from Belgium once brought that chocolate to a dinner, saying it was the best of the best (and proudly from her country).. maybe it's also the fact that the evening was great and the food was delicious and the discussion were really interesting, this chocolate is rooted in a good memory of friendship.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Wow! What a great giveaway! The best chocolate experience I've had was a dessert of the best vanilla ice-cream with the finest melted milk chocolate poured over top and covered with chopped almonds. Sounds simple but was divine.

(And I'm so glad this bag will be available again soon. I was so sad when I saw it was sold out.)

  134. I love any kind of dark chocolate, but my friend, while travelling in Belgium brought me home the most lovely piece of dark chocolate with hazelnuts. It wasn't too sweet. It was rich and almost smokey. Delicious! Also, thank you for your beautiful work - another lovely treat!!

  138. I love your bag!! The best chocolate I had was when someone brought in leftovers from SOMA over to the office. I don't even know what it was but I remember thinking it was heaven. However I'm addicted to Lindt's white coconut chocolate at the moment (and it's more cheap & easy to get) so this may be the best chocolate for me at the moment.
    Thank you :)

  140. Beautiful bag!! It's black-brown triangles remind me of the best triangle piece of chocolate pie I have ever tasted (and I have tasted quite a lot, I must admit) and that was in the restaurant "Rainbow Cafe" opposite Cambridge University in Cambridge, UK. It's been almost 12 years ago during which time I have moved across the globe to end-up in Australia, but I can still remember how the organic chocolate and walnuts combi seduced and spoiled my my taste-buds, for ever, yum!

  141. The best chocolate I ever had was when I was back packing in Costa Rica. Some small child was selling home made pop ( that was in a plastic bag) and chocolate. I bought it because I wanted to help but at no point had I planned to eat it. I think the child knew by looking in my eyes I was not goint eat the fruits of her labor. She spoke spanish and I did not so she gestured with her hand to eat. I waved her off saying later, later with no intesion of eating it later. She pursisted so I took a little nibble only to find out it was actually so delicious. In our broken languages I came to find out her and her family make chocolate in their homes and sell to the locals and tourist. My friend and I ended up meeting her family and spent out Christmas with them. They had very little but shared lots including their chocolate. I bought a whole bunch to bring back as gift for family and friends. That was the best chocolate I ever had...... In short always support local, home made... sometimes it brings you memories

  152. Ahh I love this bag, so here goes!

My favourite chocolates ever are Malteaster Bunnies, they are soo scrummy! I don't know if you get them in Canada, they are made by the same people who make malteasers, mars bars and snickers. They are little sift bisuity balls with some creamy filling and then covered in chocolate. They are pretty much the best thing ever, and you can only buy them once a year at easter so you have a whole year to get over indulging and prepare yourself for the next lot!

  172. The best chocolate (hot chocolate- beverage) I´ve ever had, was the one my "abuela Tita" use to make. It had the most wonderful taste and texture due to the "molinillo" she used. She use to say it was the special beverage for the gods (Aztecs). You should all try it. If you want to know what a "molinillo" is, you can visit this web page: http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/Articles/Unique-Cooking-Tools-641/molinillo.aspx
If you ever want to come to Mexico to have a cup of chocolate with me, you are most certainly invited.

  175. Love your bags, and your question! My answer: I love Chocosol! If you like spicy chocolate, my favourite bar is the one with chili in it. This company is great. They make chocolate the traditional way, the purest way, and they give a damn about sustainability. They even bike down to Mexico for their cacao. Toronto based. They sell at farmers' markets like Evergreen Brickworks and if you bring a container of your own I think you get a discount/freebie of some sort? I bought some at EBW and met the fellow who runs it. Very interesting to learn about. He has a crazy pedal powered contraption that makes hot chocolate. Simply divine...the food of the gods, indeed. Enjoy, and thank you!

I know, it's difficult for most women to even fathom the injustice! I do absolutely adore salted caramel though - in ice cream or any dessert at all so life isn't so bad for me! 195. The best chocolate I ever had was... the ENTIRE zotter range.

I'd just started working at a tiny deli - which sold interesting chocolate and loose leaf teas and coffee beans {which i knew nothing about at the time!} all crammed together in large glass jars with lids that *POP*ped when you released the lid and which sat huddled together on dark wooden shelves - and decided to be overly keen, in my efforts to impress, and try every flavour we stocked in that range. The flavours are... interesting {Cashew and pineapple, Cheese and wine, Bacon Bits....} I considered it quite an achievement that i had tasted a nibble of each.

And then my new manager came into our shop "Oh dear, no, i don't actually put those in my mouth!" Oh. FAIL. But such an amusing memory and one that always reminds me of the fun times i had in that little store with my teas, and my beans, my bars and my frothing machine!

  196. Beautiful bag! Scharffenberger makes my favorite chocolate (although I might have mispelled it). It's sort of fruity and rich.

    ReplyDelete
  197. Hi Arounna - I'm not sure if it was the best chocolate I've ever tasted but it was very special! Last night I tried, for the first time, some Trader Joe's 70% dark chocolate bar caramel with black sea salt (the packaging is pretty groovy too!). It was very delicious...but I think the real reason why I particularly enjoyed and savoured it so much was that it was the last thing I ate as a 38 year old, looking forward to my 39th year, today! Birthday chocolate tastes wonderful! Thank you!
