one of the things I've been meaning to get back to is ceramics. I started out making pottery and then I made ceramic sculptures during my days at NSCAD- I only started doing printed textiles during my time at Harbourfront Craft Studios. I want to experiment with objects and utilitarian forms. These photos are of little cups I found in a box while moving. I will have to dig up my slides and show you the sculptural piece I did when I was in school. I guess the cups show my growing interest in pattern.

I love all those little cups. I think the two front left are my favorites. I would love to see pictures of your sculptural work.
ReplyDeletePlease give it to me, strongly Japanese arts this design....so outstanding....
ReplyDeleteIt's always fascinating to hear about an artist's creative evolution. My father's path seems to have been the exact in reverse: began with silk screen, moved to sculpture, and now has taught ceramics at UPR for over 25 years. He revisits mediums though. I thinks it's helpful to explore old loves with new eyes. I'd enjoy seeing your slides! Your cups/vessels are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely. I like how your design sense moves so fluidly from one medium to another. It seems you have a love for me two favourites as well- clay and fibre.
