yesterday was a perfect day for an outing, we travelled north of toronto to black creek pioneer village, a place that I visited often as a kid and havn't been there for 25 years. j and I gave both kids a talk about what to expect, trying to explain that we were going back in time, when we were there many questions came up, "what do you mean they didn't have electricity?", or "no computers in the school?" all kinds of things, and I think they enjoyed it. I really like the photos I took there (which I will have to show in a few parts), there's a homestead simplicity that is everywhere.

when we were on the porch of one of the houses snacking - j asked if I could live this life, a simpler life and I immediately said yes! I think I can do it on a regular basis, when we go to the cottage I am cut off from the outside world and it's simplicity is nice and relaxing, a nice way to turn certain parts of your brain off. I will show you more photos tomorrow.
p.s. yes it did feel like I was in that m night shyamalan film, without the scary stuff.

  2. I hope one day to live basic like that. I live in a very busy city right now and I enjoy it, but I'll have enough of it one day and then I need a small cottage and a huge garden packed with pets.

  5. Nice family photos! I used to love Black Creek Pioneer Village as a kid. There is a wonderful tranquility there.

My favourite question from when my girls were younger was when ChloƩ asked me if I was alive when the dinosaurs still existed!!! :) (I think she was around 3 or 4 at the time.)

  7. The top photo came through fine, but the others have a triangle with a big "!" in it - perhaps they didn't load properly? Love the first - am very curious to see the rest :-(
