there are times I feel strange that I use the bookhou name for this blog and it's mostly me chatting away with you and you don't hear much from john (the "boo") part. to be honest he prefers it that way - I often offer him a platform to chat with you all, but he prefers to keep his thoughts and ideas to himself - he's a private person. I had a customer come in today visiting from abroad who reads the blog and said "hi" to john and he came to the back where I was working and he said - "you should go say hi - I think they want to chat with you..." - but I assured him that bookhou at home readers are just as happy to speak to him too. I wanted to show you this beautiful table john recently sent to a client living in NYC - I am still amazed at customers that buy his furniture without seeing it first hand - needless to say he loved it.
I wrote this post so late last night and didn't realize it's friday - happy weekend friends! xxa

  1. Absolutely stunning table! And it's nice to know where your shop name came from. I've always wondered but probably never would have figured it out.

  2. oh my gosh yes of course I was as thrilled to meet you as to meet John ! He is quite one of a kind (lucky girl you are !!) and totally part of the Bookhou "concept" (if you see what I mean). When I think of Bookhou, I think of you two, side by side.
I was delighted to meet you two guys, and hope we'll meet again someday, anywhere !

  5. Both of your work fits so nicely with each others. I know when I think of Bookhou I think of both of you and you do a great job of sharing one voice.

  6. Arounna, to me bookhou are you and John. And I wish I could buy some of John's art (although I did, now that I think of it! His beautiful drawings are in the winter/spring tea towels). Well, I wish I could buy some of his wooden art. But I guess it will be complicated to send to this part of the world. Anyway, if I ever go to Canada, I will definitely go to your shop and chat with the two of you! :-)

  8. That table is a work of art. And John is a treasure. Although I didn't really get the chance to chat with him much, Mark did, and went on afterwards about how lovely John was.

  9. Even though John is not very vocal on this blog he is very present in each of your posts. That table is soooo gorgeous! I'm so glad I brought back that lamp that he made, it looks so at home at our place.

  10. Beautiful table... I pass your shop every day on my commute to work ... I felt for you during all that construction! One day soon I look forward to passing at an hour that you are open so that I can come in and see all of your goodies in person!
