I hope you had a productive week - during the day I spend time with emails, phone calls and customers that come into the shop and small children needing attention so there is a lot of interrupted time in production work. so the evenings hours are extremely productive time. that's why it's difficult to go to bed early. I am hoping when lliam starts full day kindergarten I can adopt to his schedule. this morning we had a work crew come in and they arrived at 8am (too early for me), but it gave me three hours of work on the new b.a.h. mag before I open the shop - I can't believe I can survive on 5 hours of sleep - am I the only one that does this?
on the weekend I am working on some new bags - can't wait to show you - I am hoping canada post will be able to ship items monday and I will be celebrating my birthday :) please sign up for our mailing list (thanks to those of you already on the list) - there will be an announcement next week of our popular online sale items - and in the next few weeks you will be emailed b.a.h. mag issue no.3
the image above is a patch quilt wall hanging I made three years a go - it was based on arial images of field crops - I don't have it anymore and the image is not so good, it was taken with my point and shoot camera. I don't know why it took me so long to get a good camera (it was probably the price tag that deterred me for awhile).
enjoy your weekend friends - I will enjoy celebrating another blissful year of life. xxa
Oh gasp! LOVE this quilt! You will so love the new schedule in the fall, it changed my life last year when my daughter started kindergarten.
ReplyDeletei love the organic shapes of this quilt- and reading that it is based on field crops makes sense with the natural yet structured flow of it.
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see your new bags (i am LOVING mine) and hope you have a good weekend leading up to your birthday.
Wow! I absolutely love this quilt! And new bags..? My heart is beating a little faster! Happy early birthday and can't wait for the announcement next week and the new b.a.h. issue.

ReplyDeletefirst, I could survive on 5 hours of sleep .... but not everyday, oh no no (LOL)
ReplyDeletesecondly, that quilt has such an organic feeling to it, I suppose it was 100% linen, right ?
and lastly ... HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY on Sunday !! Today is my eldest's birthday, he's 9 today ! :)
Sending you all my love xoxox
I love the quilt, its looking like Paul Klee painting ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm also waiting for my boy to started kindergarten in August ;-) and start to work again.
HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY !
Now I know how you do it all... 5 hours sleep! I could never survive on such little sleep. 7 solid hours is essential for me.
ReplyDeleteYou beautiful quilt immediately made me think of arial view of fields.
I hope you have a wonderful birthday surrounded by all the people you love!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY A.

wishing you the best, happiest and most productive birthday weekend. Filled with family and friends and lovely strangers popping into the most beautiful shop in toronto. Hope the little ones keep you amused. I am happy to know I am not the only one who manages with a small amount of sleep. (or do i?)
ReplyDeleteThe bigger question is how do you do it without drinking coffee?
xxoo
Arounna, wishing you Happy Birthday in advance!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful quilt, probably something I would like to do with the pile of dyed fabric I have.
I'll drop by the shop soon, let you know in advance, a fun visit!
Brian
Love, love this! That's the type of sewing I'd tackle. More freeform and organic. I think you just gave the push I needed. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Arounna!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a beautiful celebration
with all you loved ones.
you are my daily inspiration!
thank you for sharing your life with us.
I have just started to follow your blog although I am familiar with your work from the OOAK show. I am enjoying your posts. If you have time, could you tell me what camera you ended up investing in? I have been toying with "the plunge" myself as I love to take shots and my old camera is just not satisfying anymore.
ReplyDeleteThanks and happy birthday.
Jenny
happy birthday to you :)
ReplyDeletelove your quilt!
What a fantastic quilt! Beautiful muted linen (I am guessing) with little bursts of colour. I am at the point where I am considering getting a better camera to be able to shoot my work, though I can't foresee trying to make money with my working the near future. Also deterred by the price tag. Judging by your newer photos, it was money very well spent on your part.
ReplyDeleteYou are by far not the only one who lives on 5 hours of sleep, though I don't anyone who does it and still produces such beautiful, individualistic, authentic work. When my son was younger I routinely slept about 4 - 5 hours a night so that I could get in some creative time. I think a lot of artist/mothers do similar things to fit in everything we need to do to live a life our soul requires of us.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is amazing, but then that's no surprise coming from you.
Ha ha ha, you`re not alone:) Welcome to `notsleepingmums`club`;)
ReplyDeleteVery nice crocheting and knitting. Would you like to show us how you do it? Maybe tutorial:)?
Greetings from Poland:)
