piper got a lot of great gifts for her birthday - but there was one gift that stood out - a gift from her aunt allyson. raggedy ann and andy dolls made by their great aunt nettie - their great aunts were completely self-sufficient - they lived on a farm and did a lot of baking, cooking and made their own clothes as well as beautiful gifts. it's so special that allyson passed these onto piper - they are over 40 years old. right now piper's visits with the dolls are supervised - only because yesterday when these photos were taken she tried to remove their hair. the details are so incredible especially the embroidered "I love you".

what a lovely story!
ReplyDeleteSuch special heirloom treasures. Piper will treasure them. Watch out for the stage where she wants to try out hair dressing - with scissors!
ReplyDeletethey are wonderful and that picture with her peeking at them in the crate is so sweet. Ah yes put away the scissors. Any way you can postpone the sale until i get off work:)
ReplyDeleteTrès jolies poupées !
ReplyDeleteLucky Piper! Really beautiful dolls. I'm sure they were made with love. :-)
ReplyDeletethese dolls are so special
ReplyDeletelook forward to you sale
How sweet! Also might want to put away the markers ... blush and eye shadow might be added at some point!
ReplyDeleteA treasured gift, indeed. I have a pair of similar dolls my grandparents found at a hospital craft sale, they were favourites of mine and still are. - Melanie
ReplyDeleteI love those - my mother made me a set of Raggedy Ann & Andy about 50 years ago. Thye are one of my most prized possessions - especially love the embroidered "I love you" heart.
ReplyDeleteGood thinking about the supervised visits - I know Piper will appreciate these when she's a Momma herself.
